Anything else to share: I'm a creative writing student so I thought I would put up this poem, which is written as a love letter to my native south africa, with my sadness and nostalgia evident as I am now living in Ireland. - and anyone can check out my musings at www.shellspotted.com
There comes an age
Where a child
points to the sky
And the African mother
with her heart ringing
Child, where we are from
The monkeys they have weddings
She is invited to the party
Child, this opening of the heavens
This flood of sunshine
This Amarula wind
This is her dance.
Child, let her guide you
Her happiness is your spirit
Her tears are your blood
Her celebration is your home
Child, this is your Africa.
