Anything else you want to share: In January 2020, just before the pandemic, I adopted a dog. I had seen a story posted by an old classmate from college about a 12-year-old husky mix being put up for adoption by an old friend of his and it struck me as odd seeing her age, so I asked him about it and he put me in contact with the owners. Aleu (pronounced Alu) was born in 2007 and had been the lifelong beloved pet of a guy named Diego, who had left our home country (Venezuela) due to the terrible economic situation in 2017. Since then, Aleu had lived with Diego's mom, but she had also emigrated in December of 2019. Both of them had been unable to take Aleu with them due to various circumstances and were desperate to find her a loving home to live out the rest of her life. I went to meet her at the foster home where she had been staying a couple of days later and immediately fell in love. She came home with me the next day.
We formed a strong bond almost immediately and she's been my best friend ever since. Especially during the pandemic, she has been the best company and support on my darkest, loneliest days and I cannot imagine my life without her anymore. If you've ever been considering adopting a dog, I would 100% recommend adopting and adopting a senior dog. Caring for her has been the most rewarding experience of my life. I'm enclosing a picture so y'all can see her cute ass smile.
